Pitching my Flightamins product concept to Sir Richard Branson at 14,000 feet. He loved the idea, what more inspiration could a new business need!?
Helping others lives healthier and happier has always been my priority
I burst into tears at the news report of the Somalian famine in 1989. I was little and it felt so unfair how people could be so hungry they were dying. I wanted to help these people, so mum helped me make stress balls, out of rice wrapped in balloons that I sold at school. They were fun for the kids to throw around too and a bargain at 50c! I raised a grand total of $35 which I sent, feeling hopeful it would help.
The caring little girl is still my driver today.
Excited to be launching Revitamins- a wholefood supplement designed for the homeless
Formulated based on research into homeless nutrient deficiencies. Each serve will provide essential vitamins to revitalise people and enliven their natural human potential.
I grew up in a modest government house in Dandenong with my mum, who was my first patient.
My early interest in healing modalities came from a desire to help mum and I live a healthier life.
Those early days were hard for a number of reasons, but if I could go back I wouldn't change a thing, because the hard times have given gave me the empathy I have today.
My mum wasn't very health conscious when I was little. I grew up on corned beef, cheese sandwiches and apple pie. As I got a bit older I started doing my own recipes and suggested that we change the food we eat to a predominately vegetarian diet. Mum welcomed the change on the proviso that I find the recipes and that it would be an improvement nutritionally on what we were doing. It was a good first project in healthy diet planning!
I dedicated my youth to karate which I did for 11 years. I was my clubs youngest sensei at 15, with the downside of the uncool factor of my mum having to tag along to the classes due to my age- regardless of my black belt! I worked in youth centres and volunteered on homeless projects. Following high school I got a job as a needle and syringe worker at Turning Point clinic in Fitzroy.
I somehow knew that herbs were powerful from a young age, I remember a friend having a headache, we must have been 5ish. I went and got mums spice rack and got some ingredients out to combine with water! My know- how has refined a bit since then. 2003-2005 I started my education in natural health with a diploma in Naturopathy. Following this at 21, I headed overseas to do a confronting and character building solo overland trip through India, Pakistan and China.
When I returned home in late 2005 I went back to study and in 2009 I completed a double health science degree in TCM and herbal medicine. I am currently finishing my Master of Human Nutrition at Deakin University.
